  • CLIC International House Cádiz

CLIC International House has just opened new premises in Bahía Blanca in the provincial capital of Cádiz. The property comprises 700m2 on two floors – the main floor and a top floor/terrace.

The new school has 12 classrooms all equipped with a multimedia projector or smart TV, free wifi, air-conditioning and central heating. All the classrooms have natural light and furniture designed to make learning a second language more comfortable.

The top floor also has a professional kitchen for cookery classes and a spacious student lounge with a café which is used for the cultural programme activities and for language exchange amongst CLIC students.

The enormous 200m2 terrace next to the student lounge is definitely the area that the students enjoy the most. It is equipped with outdoor furniture and hammocks and students can have a coffee between classes and prepare work for the following day with their fellow classmates. Or simply read a book. Views from the new CLIC premises are spectacular.

The sixteenth FEDELE Annual Meeting will take place shortly in Cadiz, from the 27th to the 30th September.  This event is organised by the Federation of Schools of Spanish (FEDELE) together with Cadiz council, Turismo Andaluz (Junta de Andalucía), Cadiz Tourist Board (Diputación de Cádiz) and the local Chamber of Commerce.

The FEDELE Annual Meeting is the most long-standing international event for Spanish language schools and agencies offering study abroad and has become a reference point world-wide for the Spanish language sector.  As always occurs with these events, the appointments between schools and agencies are complemented by a varied programme of cultural visits so that participants can see at first-hand what Cadiz has to offer its visitors.

On Sunday 27th September there will be a guided tour of the city and at 20.00h a welcome drink at the Casa de Iberamérica where the schools’ representatives will be able to meet the agents and will be received by the local dignataries and officials.

On Monday 28th September the appointments with the agencies and member schools will begin.  In the afternoon there will be a boat trip and dinner at the castle of San Marcos in El Puerto de Santa María.

On Tuesday 29th September the appointments will continue in the morning and in the afternoon there will be a visit to the schools of Spanish in Cadiz who have organised the event.  The appointments and accommodation will all be at the Hotel Parador Atlantico.

Cadiz carnival is one of the most celebrated festivals in Spain and the whole city joins in the intense week-long party.  Cadiz´s carnival is special and different. Its people demonstrate their sense of humour and their great capacity for criticism through the words and the music of the songs.

The lyrics and the music for Cadiz carnival change every year.  Hundreds of different choral groups (coros, chirigotas, comparsas, etc.) renew their repertory each year and a fantastic journey through the previous year’s events is created by the lyrics and performed at the Falla Theatre, in the streets, on the street corners and in the squares throughout the city.

The jokiness, the spirited sense of humour, the imagination of the fancy dress and the wit of the local people appear spontaneously every year in February.  Cadiz carnival is a fiesta made by the people of Cadiz.  The local people can be your guide and show you the authentic carnival, the carnival as it is lived and sung by the whole of Cadiz.

The clowning, the emotion, the social and political criticism of the songs all contribute to the way in which Cadiz’s fiesta ensnares people from all walks of life, crowding them together in the streets, particularly in the district of La Viña which is the area which undergoes  the most striking metamorphosis during the festival.

Each year, thousands of visitors from all over the world mix with the people of Cadiz to enjoy themselves and to laugh during a week of magic in which Cadiz behaves like the perfect host, always happy and ready and willing to welcome all its visit
