The 1st Conference on Language Tourism in the Madrid Autonomous Community will shortly be taking place. The slogan for the conference is “Madrid feels in Spanish”. The event will take place on the 2nd of February, beginning at 9 o’clock, at the Instituto Cervantes in calle Alcalá.
The Madrid Autonomous Community is organising the event in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes and the Plataforma de Español. The Instituto Cervantes will provide a space for operators, businesses, schools of Spanish and schools working in language tourism, representatives of destinations with greater potential for development in this area and public institutions to discuss and exchange experiences of this type of tourism and the range of possibilities it offers.
The programme includes two main events:
- An initial round table discussion in which the Instituto Cervantes, the Plataforma del Español and the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Autonomous Community of Madrid will take part and give information on Spanish within the Autonomous Community of Madrid.
- A discussion of good practice and successful experiences in the Autonomous Community of Madrid, with representatives from the University of Alcalá and Madrid FEDELE, among others.

On Saturday 10th October, the first Madrid Student Welcome Day will take place at the Ayuntamiento de Madrid’s Galería de Cristal (Cibeles). This is a festive and recreational event intended specifically for foreign students who have recently arrived in Madrid.ç
The aim is to give students a warm welcome to the city of Madrid and an opportunity for them to get to know what cultural and leisure activities are available. There will be a range of activities – concerts, raffles and free gifts as well as free food.
The event is subsidised by the Ayuntamiento of Madrid and the Comunidad de Madrid as well as by businesses and organisations who, like ourselves, want to take part in this interesting initiative.
The Instituto Cervantes will have a stand and will provide various activities throughout the day. They will have a twenty minute spot on the main stage for dynamic group exercises for students of Spanish as a Foreign Language. Immediately following this there will be raffle of four tickets for the AVE Global for people who have previously taken part in activities at the stand.
